With profound sorrow and gratitude for a life well-lived, we announce the passing of Hilda Joyce Lazaro, a cherished mother, devoted wife, beloved sister, and dear friend, who departed this world peacefully on September 22, 2026, at the age of 78, at Wilcox Hospital, surrounded by her loving family. Born on July 30, 1948, in Koloa, Kauai, to Albert Soto and Lovina Rita, Hilda graced our lives with her warmth, love, and unwavering spirit, leaving behind a legacy that will forever resonate in the hearts of all those fortunate enough to have known her.
Hilda was united in love with Anthony Keliʻi Lazaro Sr., her devoted husband, with whom she shared a lifetime filled with laughter, joy, and countless memories. Together, they nurtured a family grounded in love and compassion. Hilda is survived by her beloved husband, their three sons, Anthony K. Lazaro Jr. and his wife Charlene, who blessed her with cherished grandchildren Braiden (Kapili) and Dekoda (Noah); Stanley D. Lazaro; and Troy Allen Lazaro, and her chosen daughter Koko Itami. She was preceded in death by her baby boy, Matthew Lazaro, whose memory will forever remain a tender part of their family’s heart.
Her spirit is also carried forward by her loving siblings and extended family. Hilda was preceded in death by her brothers Bobby Rita, Albert Soto, Ralph Soto, and Dennis Soto. She is survived by her devoted siblings, Thomas Rita, Cecilia Lazaro, and Mervin Soto, as well as her beloved sisters-in-law: Mercy Lazaro, Barbara Frasco, Ginni Soto, Cindy Soto, Lynn Rita, and Bernadette Soto.
Professionally, Hilda was dedicated and industrious, contributing her talents to the accounting department at the Sheraton Kauai in Poipū. She continued her professional career serving as a guest services agent at the Lawai Beach Resort, and in her later years, she brought care and compassion to her work family at Service Master.
In honor of Hilda’s remarkable life, a memorial service and celebration of life will be held on Saturday, November 14, 2026 at St.Theresa Church in Kekaha. Public visitation will take place from 8:30 AM to 10:20 AM, followed by a formal remembrance program and funeral mass at 11:00 AM. A luncheon will follow on the St. Teresa School property adjacent to the church, featuring Hawaiian entertainment.
The family extends its heartfelt gratitude to the caring staff at Wilcox Hospital, especially the ICU and Emergency Room doctors and nurses, Straub Hospital, Garden Island Mortuary, and to the many friends and ʻohana for their invaluable support during this challenging time.
