Jo Ann will be deeply missed and fondly remembered for her laughter, her kindness, her strength, and the love she gave so freely.

Jo Ann Salud, born on February 12, 1969, in Lihue, Hawaii, passed away at home in Lihue on August 12, 2026.

A proud member of the Kauai High School Class of 1987, Jo Ann went on to work for the State of Hawaii Department of Accounting & General Services (D.A.G.S.). She will be remembered as a woman with a huge heart who always lent a helping hand to those around her, even while carrying her own burdens. She was strong for others, kind to all, and a steady source of care and support to the people who knew and loved her.

Jo Ann found joy in life’s simple and meaningful pleasures. She loved to laugh, eat, bake, and work in her yard. She enjoyed traveling and also found happiness in simply cruising around the island in her car. She took pride in doing her hair and bringing her own special style and spirit to each day. Above all, her proudest accomplishment was being the solid rock of her family, a role she fulfilled with love, strength, and devotion.

She is survived by her daughter, Taylor Samiano, and her grandchild, Melody Alderman. She is also lovingly remembered by her brother Romeo (Laurie) Salud of Lihue; her nieces Brooke Salud and Marissa (Robert) Avila of Kalihi; her nephew Cullen (Kaui) Salud of Lihue; her brother-in-law Wes Kam of Kalihi; and her grand-nephews, Hākoa and ‘A’ali‘i. Each of them carries forward the memory of her warmth, generosity, and enduring love.

Jo Ann was preceded in death by her father, Luciano Salud; her mother, Juanita Salud; and her sister, Lucita Kam.

Visitation will be held on September 25, 2026, from 9:08 a.m. to 10:03 a.m. at Garden Island Mortuary, 2-3780 B Kaumualii Hwy, Lawai, HI 96765. A memorial service will follow from 10:03 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Garden Island Mortuary.
