Mildred Remata Candilaria Olores of Kekaha passed away at Kauai Veterans Memorial Hospital on July 19, 2026, at the age of 96. She was born on February 2, 1930, and retired after many years at Big Save Waimea and Lawai Cannery. She found great joy in bowling at the Kauai Bowling Center and held a deep love for her faith, generously devoting much of her time to volunteer work at Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary Catholic Church in Waimea and St. Theresa Church in Kekaha.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bernardo Olores; her parents, Crisanto and Vicenta Remata; her brothers, David, Edward, and Alfredo Remata; and her sisters, Sister Florence Remata and Vivian Nonaka.
Mildred is survived by her sons, Christopher (Claire) Olores of Hanapepe and Vincent (Merlie) Olores of Lihue; her daughter, Debra Olores of Kekaha; 3 grandchildren, Joshua, Cassandra (Scot), and Courtland; five great-grandchildren, Jaysha (Ericka), Jaylynn, Joshua Jr., Saraia, and Soren; her brothers, Richard Remata of Kekaha, Stanley (Norma) Remata of Pearl City, Wilfred Remata of Los Angeles, California, Lawrence Remata of Simi Valley, California, and Patrick Remata of Los Angeles, California; her sister, Elizabeth "Elise" Aquino of Lihue; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Services will be held on Saturday, October 10, 2026, at the Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary Catholic Church in Waimea. Visitation will begin at 9:00 AM, with the eulogy at 10:00 AM and a prayer service to follow. The family requests casual attire and welcomes flowers.
The family is being assisted by Garden Island Mortuary.
