The silent rattling of the spirit left, the sounding of the voice ended.

Keala “Ala” Lovell, affectionately known as Papa, Grandfather, Dad, Uncle, Friend, Husband, and Brother, was born on April 9, 1949, and departed to the great fishing grounds beyond the rainbow on August 24, 2026. As the eldest child of Hosea K. Lovell, Jr. and Jane J. Nicola Lovell, his journey through life was one of service, passion, and unwavering dedication.

A proud veteran of the United States Army, Keala served with honor during the Vietnam War. His professional life saw him devote 35 years as an Operating Engineer, a career he cherished deeply. Among the last of the Lawai’a from the Ahupua'a O Anahola, he was adept in the ancient practices of fishing, embodying the wisdom of the old ways.

Keala’s legacy lives on through his beloved ‘ohana, sons Shane (Kelsey) and Bronson (Kai’ulani); his devoted grandchildren Keala (Krysten), Kamalani (Hunter), Troye, Janea, Makoa, and Nai’a Lovell, as well as Makena and Cassie Parangao. His lineage is further enriched by great-grandchildren Nakiowai, Ale’a, and Kawaialaopulani Lovell. Additionally, he is mourned by his brother Robeley Lovell, Aunt Fay Monte, and his wife of 57 years, Carol Kapahua Victorino.

The memory of Keala will be forever treasured by his ‘ohana and friends, with his presence, stories, laughter, and love continuing to resonate in their lives.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, October 3, 2026, at Garden Island Mortuary in Lawai. Visitation will begin at 9:00 AM, followed by a service at 10:00 AM. The family requests aloha attire and flowers and lei are welcomed.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Doctors Bruce, Jackson, Goyal, and the Kaua'i Hospice team for their compassionate care. Garden Island Mortuary is assisting the family during this time.
